The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the local council elections held on Saturday across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.
The ruling party won all chairmanship and councillorship positions in a sweeping victory.
Announcing the results in Ilorin, the Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), Muhammed Baba Okanla, stated that the APC secured all available seats in the local government polls.

He praised the peaceful nature of the election and commended the professionalism of those involved.
Speaking at a press conference, Okanla said, “Firstly, I’d like to express our heartfelt appreciation for your tireless efforts and commitment to factual reporting.
Your professionalism has been instrumental in ensuring the transparency and credibility of our electoral process.”
He further explained that five political parties participated in the elections, including the APC, APM, PDP, SDP, and Accord Party.
However, the APC dominated the results, winning all 16 chairmanship positions and all 193 councillorship seats across the state’s 16 local government areas and 193 wards.
“Our electoral officers and returning officers from the field have filed their results, and I’m pleased to share the outcomes with you.
After meticulous collation and verification, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all categories.”
Okanla also commended the peaceful conduct of the elections, noting that no major incidents or casualties were recorded.
He thanked the people of Kwara State for their active participation in the democratic process and praised the political parties for their peaceful engagement.
“We commend political parties for their commitment to a peaceful election, which did not record any major casualty.
We also appreciate the people of Kwara State for trooping out en masse to exercise their civic rights,” he added.
Okanla extended his gratitude to security agencies for their role in maintaining peace and order during the voting process, highlighting their professionalism throughout the election.
The local council polls mark another milestone in Kwara State’s political landscape, with the APC continuing its dominance across the state’s local government areas.
