Youth Commissioners from states governed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) have called for greater youth inclusion in Nigeria’s political space, stressing that it is vital for sustainable national development.
The Commissioners made the appeal in Owerri, Imo State, during their quarterly meeting, which focused on deepening youth engagement for the progress of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, an initiative of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), seeks to harmonize youth-focused policies and foster collaboration among APC states in line with the party’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the Commissioners commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what they described as the youth-centered component of his administration.
They noted that the President’s agenda represents a transformative framework for job creation, innovation, and youth inclusion in governance. The Commissioners also resolved to domesticate and align the agenda in their respective states to create sustainable opportunities for young Nigerians.
One of the keynote speakers, Ambassador Blessing Fubara, emphasized the need to move beyond ceremonial programmes and token interventions, calling for a governance model anchored on reliable and measurable policies for youth development.
He urged the government to set clear parameters before launching any youth intervention programme, noting that such an approach would ensure that government investments translate into genuine empowerment, job creation, and innovation.
Fubara also called for a restructuring of how youth interventions are conceived and evaluated, stressing that they should aim for verifiable impact rather than mere publicity.
Speaking with journalists during the meeting, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Mobolaji A. Ogunlende, described the gathering as an opportunity for cross-fertilization of ideas that would advance youth welfare under President Tinubu’s administration.
He expressed optimism that the President’s second term would open up more avenues for youth participation in politics, while urging young Nigerians to shun restiveness and other anti-social behaviours that could hinder their leadership potential.
Welcoming delegates to the event, Imo State Commissioner for Youth, Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, expressed gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodinma for supporting the successful hosting of the meeting.
A major highlight of the event was the adoption of a resolution to mobilize 12 million youth votes nationwide for the APC and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
