The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released the list of aspirants cleared to participate in its chairmanship primaries ahead of the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State.
The list was made public on Sunday at the party’s state secretariat in Awka and includes candidates cleared to contest across the 21 local government areas of the state.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, the party said the clearance followed the completion of screening exercises conducted in accordance with its guidelines.
According to the statement, aspirants from all the local government areas met the stipulated requirements to participate in the forthcoming primaries, which will determine the party’s candidates for council chairmanship positions.
Among those cleared are Kingsley Ezeagu (Aguata), Ifeanyi Chinweze (Anambra East), Tony Obierika (Anambra West), Paulinus Okafor (Anaocha), ThankGod Anago (Awka North), and Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), alongside others from the remaining councils.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to conducting transparent and credible primaries and urged members and supporters to remain united and comply with party rules throughout the electioneering period.
The Anambra State local government election is scheduled to hold on August 29, as political parties intensify preparations for the polls.
