The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has responded to comments made by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, regarding Anambra State’s political affiliation.
In a statement issued by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, on Saturday, the party refuted Ganduje’s assertion that Anambra State has been politically disconnected from the center by remaining in the minority party, APGA.
Opara highlighted that despite being governed by a minority party, Anambra has fared better than many states claimed to be connected to the center, citing examples of progress and development under APGA’s leadership.

He criticized Ganduje’s tenure as governor of Kano State, pointing out that the state opted for a governor from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, indicating dissatisfaction with the APC.
The statement emphasized that the APC is virtually non-existent in Anambra and that APGA’s continued presence in the state is due to its performance-based governance.
Opara mentioned the achievements of past and present governors in Anambra, such as Peter Obi, Willie Obiano, and Professor Soludo, highlighting the state’s progressive growth and recognition in various areas.
He also criticized the recent South East APC colloquium in Nnewi, organized by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, accusing the party of turning the event into a political rally and conducting a primary election where Senator Ubah was declared the party’s candidate in the next election.
The statement concluded by stating that Anambra is proud of its achievements and is willing to remain “disconnected” from the center if it means maintaining its progress and development under APGA’s leadership.
