The Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the South-East zone, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, has reacted to the defection of Abia South Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking with InfoStride News on Wednesday, Ehiemere said APGA would continue to grow stronger in Abia State and across the South-East despite Abaribe’s exit from the party.

The APGA National Vice Chairman condemned the practice of politicians defecting to other parties after using their former platforms to achieve personal political ambitions.
“To me, APGA is a disciplined party and we are not perturbed by some of these chronic party defectors. APGA is a defender of the principles of democracy. The party will crow loudly and clearly in Abia and the South-East,” Ehiemere said.
He argued that many politicians who defect from parties that gave them political relevance often fail to contribute meaningfully to the growth and stability of such parties.
Ehiemere also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to introduce stricter policies to curb what he described as the abuse of defection by Nigerian politicians.
Meanwhile, efforts to get a reaction from Senator Abaribe proved unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to his media aide, Uchenna Awom, on Wednesday evening were neither returned nor responded to.
