Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, will lose the 2027 general elections.
Aregbesola made the declaration on Saturday in Ilorin while speaking with journalists after commissioning the new Kwara State secretariat of the ADC along Basin Road.
According to him, the APC’s increasing intolerance toward opposition parties shows that it is insecure and unpopular among Nigerians.

“If APC is confident of its strength, it won’t be so hyped and charged as to be hounding and hunting opposition all over the place,” Aregbesola said.
“How can we interpret what APC is doing all over Nigeria to us? They are harassing and intimidating everyone of our members, not just our leaders but nationwide — be it in Lagos, Kebbi, or Kaduna.
“If indeed they are confident of their strength, one would expect them to be calm. But the reverse is the case, and that tells you they know they are not popular. The party that will harvest their unpopularity is ADC.”
The former governor of Osun State expressed optimism that the ADC would take over power at the federal and state levels in the next general elections.
“Regardless of the grandstanding, by the grace of God, ADC will take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria and in most of the states,” he declared.
Commenting on the recent wave of defections to the APC, Aregbesola described those joining the ruling party as “enemies of the people.”
Similarly, former Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ADC, said the party is fully prepared to assume leadership in Nigeria.
“ADC is the party of the future,” Ahmed said. “We are ready to take over the mantle of leadership and restore hope to Nigerians.”
