The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has no option but to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Wike stated this on Monday during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
According to him, Atiku’s exit from the PDP was inevitable because he could not allow him to “destroy the party.”

“They have never been committed members. Atiku has no choice but to leave because he wanted to use the PDP, but knowing that I’m there, he cannot get that platform,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor accused Atiku of inconsistency, recalling that the former vice president had defected from the PDP several times in the past.
“Those are people who destroyed the party. How many times has he left PDP and returned?” he queried.
Wike also commented on the recent defection of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying he was pleased with the development.
“Diri has said he has left PDP and I’m one of the happiest persons today. The same him and Makinde said they will not allow anybody to destroy the PDP and fall to the gutter. Who has entered the gutters today?” Wike added.
