The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma of using violence, smear campaigns, and propaganda against the citizens of the state.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alleged that Governor Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo was terrified of a PDP victory in the next governorship election on November 11, 2023.
“APC is frustrated by the open rejection of Uzodimma by majority of the people of the state due to his abysmal failure in office, the excruciating economic hardship, and the mindless killing of thousands of innocent Imo citizens under his horrifying watch,” the party said.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, PDP Special National Publicity Committee for Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi Governorship Elections Chairman Debo Ologunagba made these claims.
Ologunagba claimed that the APC, realizing that Uzodimma has no chance of winning in a fair and peaceful election, has resorted to using State authority to persecute and intimidate opposition voices.
He claimed that the APC’s attacks on the people of Imo State were an attempt to rig the election by increasing tensions in the state’s already tense security situation, instilling fear in the populace, and keeping them from exercising their democratic right to vote.
The APC “has resorted to deploying instruments of state power to hound and harass opposition voices in the state” because they “realized that there is no way Governor Uzodimma can win in a peaceful, free, and fair election.”
To paraphrase a portion of the statement: “APC’s sinister approach of attacking the people of Imo State is apparently to heighten the already tense security situation in the State, to instill fear in the people, to prevent them from coming out to exercise their democratic right to vote, with the intention of creating an enabling situation for the APC to rig the election.”
The PDP further said that the APC was plotting evil things in order to silence the people of Imo State and prevent them from rising up to free their state from the APC’s grip.
The party stated that the APC is fighting a losing struggle and that the Imo people are greater than any one person or group, arguing that no amount of force, bribery, intimidation, or harassment will be able to break the will of the people.
