World Health Organisation (WHO) says up to half of all tobacco users die prematurely from tobacco-related diseases. Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, said this in a statement in Abuja to commemorate the 2017 “World No Tobacco Day” held annually on May 31. Ms Amina Mohammed, Deputy UN Secretary-General, has warned that the AIDS pandemic was still far from over, saying more than 36.7 million people are living with HIV globally. The Lagos State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on Thursday condemned cases of violence during primaries conducted by some political parties ahead of the July 22 council polls in the state. The Nigerian Navy on Thursday said it had arrested five suspected oil thieves in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
