Property investors in the Nigerian city of Maiduguri are benefiting from a rise in property prices following the retreat of Boko Haram fighters. About $15bn (£10bn) was stolen from the fight against militant Islamists in Nigeria under the previous government, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said. The money was diverted through fraudulent arms contracts, he added. Several allies of ex-President Goodluck have been put on trial after being accused of awarding fake arms contracts worth $2bn. Tupac Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur has died at the age of 69. The Marin County Sheriff’s Department in California confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Shakur died late Monday night. Afeni, opened the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain in 1997 and resided in the area. A Tupac Shakur biopic, called “All Eyez On Me” was being filmed in Atlanta earlier this year. The cause of death is yet to be announced.
