An irate mob Friday lynched a middle-aged woman suspected to be a kidnapper in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, after she allegedly snatched a toddler from her mother. Amnesty International Friday urged the Nigerian security forces to disclose the whereabouts of a man who was arrested after tweeting pictures of an attempted jail break at the headquarters of the intelligence agency. “Nigerian security forces should immediately disclose the whereabouts and legal status of Yusuf Siyaka Onimisi,” said the rights group’s Netsanet Belay in a statement. “If he is in detention, the Nigerian authorities must either charge him with a recognisable criminal offence or release him immediately,” Amnesty said. An outbreak of cholera in Bauchi State has reportedly killed over 59 persons, an official of the State told a press conference in Bauchi. According to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sani Malami, who briefed journalists on the update of the disease yesterday, 54 persons died at their homes while five died at the treatment camps in the state. A 49-year-old pastor, Friday Arthur, was on Friday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defiling two under-aged sisters (names withheld) aged 10 and 11. Arthur, a Beninoise, who resides at No. 856, Ikota Housing Estate, Lekki, Lagos, is facing a charge of defilement. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Gunmen on Friday attacked Kashimbilla community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba, killing two persons and kidnapping two women, including a pregnant lady. A member of the Taraba House of Assembly, Mr Mark Useni, who represents Takum II Constituency, confirmed the attack to newsmen in Jalingo. A former police sergeant facing murder charge over the killing of four University of Port Harcourt students told a High Court that the mob overwhelmed a police team sent to rescue the students. The accused, Lucky Orji, was charged along with 11 other persons in connection with the killing in Aluu Village in October 2012. Some other suspects are still at large. The Zamfara State Government has donated N12 million cash and foodstuff to families of victims of the April 3 attack on Garin Maitsaba and Birnin Tsaba villages of the state. Each of the families of the dead victims will get N300, 000 each. A total of 23 people and many animals were killed during the attack by unknown gunmen, which also resulted in the burning down of houses, shops and granaries.
