The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has accused a section of northern political elites of plotting to thwart President Bola Tinubu’s potential reelection bid in 2027.
The forum alleged that ongoing disruptions and agitations in the North are part of this scheme.
AYCF President General Yerima Shettima claimed that the plot involves setting unrealistic standards for the Tinubu administration to discredit it and sway public opinion.

He stated, “The campaign of vilification and destabilization is part of a broader strategy to weaken Tinubu’s support base in the North, with Minister of State for Defence Bello Mohammed Matawalle being the primary target.”
According to Shettima, the continuous attacks on key Tinubu allies are aimed at destabilizing the government and preventing his potential reelection.
The AYCF criticized these actions as desperate attempts by power seekers to halt the administration’s progress and reverse its anti-corruption efforts.
Warning against false narratives, the AYCF urged President Tinubu to remain vigilant and resolute in delivering on his promises.
The forum described efforts to undermine Tinubu’s administration as premature and called for a focus on achieving a stable and prosperous future for Nigeria.
