Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has denied reports circulating on social media that he is in talks to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement signed by him and made available to journalists, Badaru described the reports as baseless, false and unfounded, saying they were driven by political mischief for selfish gains.
He stressed that he remains firmly committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he said he helped to establish, adding that his loyalty to the party remains total and unwavering.

The former minister urged members of the public and supporters of the APC to disregard what he described as misleading claims, reiterating that he has no intention of leaving the party.
“There has been no discussion, negotiation or plan whatsoever on my part to defect to any other political party,” the statement said.
Speculation had earlier surfaced on social media alleging that Badaru was making moves to join the opposition ADC.
The development is coming amid an ongoing political rivalry between loyalists of the former minister and supporters of the incumbent Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, with both camps accusing each other of anti-party activities.
