Before the next November 11 governorship election in Bayelsa State, a group called New Generation Leaders, NGL, has advised Governor Douye Diri and his Chief of Staff Peter Akpe against bringing the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and its Founder, Pa Enoch Adeboye, into politics.
Comrade Precious Charles Odede, the NGL Coordinator for the Yenagoa LGA, said that Diri and his team had finalised arrangements to meet Adeboye to ask for the RCCG’s assistance in the upcoming election.
According to a statement released by Odede, Akpe was supposed to take Diri to Adeboye and implore him to convince Senator Remi Tinubu, an RCCG pastor, to back Odede’s reelection.

The Diri government, he claimed, was planning to approach Pa Adeboye for support.
From what we’ve heard, Governor Diri and Pa Adeboye’s chief of staff Peter Akpe are attempting to arrange a meeting in Lagos. The first lady, H.E. Senator Remi Tinubu, is a member of the RCCG, thus it is anticipated that Pa Adeboye will get her to vote for Diri out of sentimentality.
Odede, however, said that the plan was doomed to fail and recalled how, in 2022, Diri had shown contempt towards First Lady Tinubu when she visited Bayelsa to express her condolences to those who had been affected by the state’s devastating flood.
He said that Diri had barred Mrs. Tinubu from entering the Government House in Yenagoa.
Sadly, our very lovely First Lady will not cave in to that desperate ploy,” Odede stated. Gov. Diri’s decision to bar her entry to Creek Haven Gates from the previous year is still fresh in her mind.
Pa Adeboye is a father figure to many people, and the RCCG is not affiliated with any particular political group. Bayelsa state government, we implore you to stop wasting money on a trip to Lagos and get down to the business of governing.
