
CAF President Issa Hayatou has expressed shock at the sudden death of Masauso Mwale, Head coach of Zambian Orange CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Nkana.
The coach died in a tragic car accident on Friday, 23 May 2014, along the Kitwe-Ndola Dual carriageway, whilst driving back to join his team in camp for the Orange CAF Confederation Cup group phase day two clash against Sewe Sport of Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday in Kitwe. He was 51.
“The news was a shocker and very sad. On behalf of the CAF Executive Committee and the African football family, my condolences to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Nkana Football Club and the bereaved family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult period,” said Hayatou.
Meanwhile, the match will go ahead as planned on Saturday, 24 May 2014 in Kitwe at 15h00 (local time).
A minute of silence will be held in memory of the departed coach before kick-off whilst the players will wear black armbands.
