A Canada-based group, Goodluckan Movement, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential elections
The group’s spokesperson, Chidinma Unigwe, made the call on Saturday in Ontario, Canada, during an interview with Arise Television monitored by newsmen
Unigwe said Jonathan’s leadership style embodies values Nigeria urgently needs at this critical period.

According to her, the group believes the country requires a government that genuinely cares for its people and guarantees equal opportunities for all citizens, stressing that Nigerians deserve accountable leadership and respect for public trust.
“Our mission is to promote good governance, peaceful civic engagement and informed national dialogue, especially at a time when many Nigerians feel disconnected from leadership,” she said.
Unigwe noted that widespread uncertainty about the nation’s future informed the group’s decision to publicly appeal to the former president.
“In this context, and using this platform, we are calling on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election because we believe his leadership qualities are relevant to Nigeria’s current challenges,” she stated.
She also urged Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to join the movement, describing Jonathan as a symbol of respect for democratic institutions, national unity and restraint in the exercise of power.
Unigwe added that such qualities have become even more crucial amid economic pressure, social tension and declining public trust in leadership.
