Abuja (National Conference Report) – The National Conference’s Committee on Civil Society, Labour and Sports has on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 denied the allegations that it has substituted its chairman due to absence from duty.
The Committee said that it had demanded the Deputy Chairman to take over proceedings as the Chairman in the absence of the Chairman, Ogunrinmade pending her return from casual leave.
According to the report from the Committee recently, Ogunrinmade was said to have duly obtained permission from the National Conference Secretariat through the Confab Chairman, Idris Kutigi (Justice Rtd) for absence from duty with effect from April 16 to April 23, 2014. The report explained that her absence was not of her volition, but was authorized by the Conference management and she has not been interdicted as speculations have indicated.
It further revealed that the secretariat of the conference has equally not been notified of any removal or replacement of any Committee Chairman; saying the Committee, in the absence of the Chairman, only mandated the deputy to direct proceedings, indicating that this was only a normal process satisfies the reasons by which deputies were appointed for the Committee initially.
Ogunrinmade on return from casual leave assumed duty at the session which held on April 24, 2014.
