The defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the ruling party and expressed full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday following a meeting of its core members, the CPC bloc dismissed reports suggesting a possible defection from the APC, describing such claims as mischievous and unfounded.
The statement, jointly signed by former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator U.T. Al-Makura, and Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, emphasized the bloc’s alignment with Tinubu’s ongoing economic and governance reforms.

The full statement reads:
“We, as representatives of committed members of the former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), who were instrumental in the historic merger that birthed the All Progressives Congress (APC), hereby clarify our unalloyed loyalty to our great party and express firm solidarity with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”
“We remain integral to the APC and are fully aligned with its leadership and vision.”
The CPC bloc reaffirmed its commitment to the progressive ideals of the party and condemned any attempt to sow division within the APC or the country at large.
“We wish to state categorically that we have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave. The CPC bloc remains one of the legacy foundations of the APC, and we are resolute in our commitment to the party and its progressive ideals.”
The statement acknowledged the sacrifices made in building the APC and warned against actions aimed at dismantling its foundation.
“We will not allow some people to dismantle the party we helped to build through years of tireless work and dedication.”
The CPC bloc also threw its weight behind Tinubu’s reform policies, describing them as tough but necessary steps to reposition the country’s economy.
“Though challenging, these policies are necessary steps to rebuild our economy and secure a better future for all Nigerians. We urge patience and collective support as the benefits unfold.”
While acknowledging concerns from some party members who feel sidelined, the bloc urged them to seek resolution through the party’s internal mechanisms rather than resorting to public agitation or defection.
“At this critical point in Nigeria’s democratic journey, it is imperative for all APC members—especially those with deep roots in the party’s formation—to work together to preserve its legacy and help consolidate Nigeria’s democracy.”
The CPC called on the APC leadership to strengthen engagement and internal communication to foster unity, inclusiveness, and support for the party’s agenda.
“We therefore reaffirm our loyalty to the APC and our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The CPC family remains a vital pillar of the APC and will continue to play a responsible role in its growth and the progress of Nigeria.”
