Fresh tension has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District following conflicting endorsements of Senator Ned Nwoko for a second term in office.
The leadership tussle, involving immediate past Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Ned Nwoko, deepened after a stakeholders’ meeting held last Saturday at Nwoko’s country home in Idumuje-Ugboko.
During the meeting, party stakeholders, leaders, and members loyal to Nwoko unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Nwoko.

However, the endorsement was swiftly disowned by two party groups—the “Forum of Delta North APC LGA Chairmen” and the “Forum of APC Ward Chairmen” in the senatorial district—reportedly loyal to Dr. Okowa.
In reaction, the Chairman of the APC in Delta North Senatorial District, Ogbueishi Adizue Eluaka, faulted the dissenting publications by the forums, describing them as unauthorized and unconstitutional bodies whose actions do not represent the official position of the party in the district.
Eluaka, in a statement issued on Wednesday, announced the immediate dissolution of all such forums within the senatorial district, declaring that the party would no longer recognize any collective entities not expressly sanctioned by its constitution.
“We will not sit back and watch a few disgruntled, sponsored individuals—operating under the guise of a forum unknown to our constitution—cause disunity and disaffection within our party. The APC is a platform for progress, and these actions are clearly self-serving,” Eluaka stated.
To restore order and discipline, Eluaka directed that all party communications and activities henceforth be handled directly with LGA and ward chairmen on an individual basis. He further warned that any meeting convened by the dissolved forums or any unsanctioned group would be deemed illegal and attract disciplinary measures.
The development signals deepening cracks within the Delta North APC as the 2027 general election approaches, with loyalists of the two political heavyweights jostling for control of the party’s structure in the senatorial zone.
