Ogun State’s reputation has taken another bad hit as Governor Dapo Abiodun has been accused of weaponizing state resources to launch a personal attack against his predecessor, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD). In a shocking move on the 8th of August 2025, Ogun State Government agents invaded 3 high-profile properties linked to the former governor — the Asoludero Court, Sagamu; Conference Hotels Limited, Sagamu; and the Conference Hotel Annex — after work hours, to deliver Notices of Contravention, Quit Notices, and threats of demolition.

However, Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s properties were built many years before the controversial law was pronounced. Asoludero Court was completed in 2004, Conference Hotel Sagamu was built in 2013, and its Annex was erected in 2015.
“This is a ludicrous and flimsy excuse,” a press statement read, alleging that the Abiodun-led government is being malicious by abusing power.
Critics believe that the Abiodun government went against due process by issuing a Notice of Contravention and a Quit Notice, along with an instant demolition threat. According to them, the decision is illegal because it does not align with the stipulated law.
“This is not a legal process; it is a thuggish tactic designed to intimidate and inflict damage,” the statement continued.

This latest development is coming after the shocking midnight demolition of DATKEM Plaza in Ijebu Ode, owned by Gbenga Daniel’s wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, in September 2023.
That demolition, carried out under similarly controversial circumstances, remains an ongoing legal battle — with the Ogun state government reportedly failing with various applications in both the Ogun State High Court and the Court of Appeal, Ibadan.
The OGD Media Office has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, human rights organizations, and Nigerians at large to intervene before Ogun State becomes a lawless state.

“This is a dangerous escalation of political vendetta.
Governor Abiodun is taking political vindictiveness to a shameful and dangerous level. We will not be silent in the face of this injustice,” the statement added, pledging to challenge the personal vendetta in court.
