Former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, on Thursday officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Momodu made the declaration in Benin City, the Edo State capital, while addressing his supporters, stressing that his decision was driven by the desire to promote the interests of the people rather than personal ambition.
He stated that he was not seeking any elective position in the state, but was committed to contributing to the political development of Edo and advancing the welfare of its people.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Momodu said it took him over 50 years of hard work and careful planning to establish a home in Iwe, his ancestral community, thereby reaffirming his roots in the state.
“So today, nobody can say Dele has no roots in Iwe. Today, I am standing before you, my friends, as I humbly reintegrate myself into the political process of my state,” he said.
He further dismissed speculations about contesting for political office, saying his focus was solely on promoting good governance and the collective interest of the people.
“People have asked me, what do you want? Do you want to be a governor, a senator? No. I just want to promote the best interests of our people,” Momodu added.
