All Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members representing Delta State in the House of Representatives have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development was formally announced on Tuesday during plenary by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
The defections come in the wake of a major political realignment in Delta State, led by former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who both recently dumped the PDP for the APC during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Asaba.

Their move has triggered a domino effect, with federal lawmakers from the state following suit.
Reacting to the trend, Ikenga Ugochinyere, the lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State, revealed that two more governors and at least 40 lawmakers on the PDP platform are also preparing to defect to the ruling party.
Despite the spate of defections, former Senate President Bukola Saraki expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to bounce back, stating that the party would undergo a repositioning process to reclaim its strength.
Saraki added that those who wish to leave the party are free to do so, emphasizing that the PDP remains committed to rebuilding its base and restoring public confidence.
