Atletico Madrid younger, Joao Felix is too talented to be playing for his current club, according to Rafael van der Vaart.
Joao Felix is yet to take the La Liga by storm with Atletico Madrid slipping down to 6th in the league after 22 games.
Rafael believes the Portuguese player is currently playing at a very wrong club.
According to him, he felt Diego Simeone would change his style to suit the youngster when he bought him but that has not been the case and it has not helped Felix develop in Spain.
He added that Simeone is the wrong coach to take Joao’s career to the next level.
His words, “Joao Felix is a fine player, but he’s at the wrong club,”
“When they signed the Portuguese striker, I felt that [Diego] Simeone would try and embark on a different brand of playing, but that’s far from the case.
“I understand that winning is important but when you have a talented forward like him, you need to cater to the style of play somewhat to suit his needs.
“Atletico Madrid play in a very compact manner with a heavy focus on defending well and attacking on the counter.
“Felix, I feel, is at the wrong club and working under the wrong coach.”
