Prof. Isaac Albert, a public affairs pundit, urged the country’s biggest opposition parties on Saturday to abandon their efforts to overturn the results of the presidential election held on February 25.
As Albert explained to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan, this would be an improvement and assist stop the Supreme Court from wasting any more money.
On Wednesday, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) upheld the election results, declaring All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate President Bola Tinubu as the victor.

He came in second, ahead of the People’s Democratic Party’s Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and third, ahead of the Labour Party’s Mr. Peter Obi.
According to Albert, a University of Ibadan Peace and Conflict Studies professor, the opposition parties were soundly defeated based on the judges’ analysis.
The evidence just wasn’t there for them.
“An explicit constitutional explanation also put an end to the claim that a small but decisive number of votes cast in the FCT might determine the winner of the election.
If the opposition chooses to appeal the verdict, the Supreme Court will find that the tribunal has already done more than 80% of the work.
“Therefore, I think that it will be a waste of time and resources for those challenging Tinubu’s victory because they have no evidence,” the researcher said.
The judge, the professor added, had treated all the concerns based on their constitutionality, which will be recognized as a lasting legacy of the case.
