The Director of Family Health and Nutrition at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr Folasade Oludara, have advised women who are not yet ready to conceive that they are fertile and can prevent unwanted pregnancy.
According to Dr Oludara, post pregnancy family planning, gives women an opportunity to access family planning immediately after delivery, which reduce the the risk of getting pregnant repeatedly which can endanger the health of the mother.
While speaking Dr Oludara advised women to not to have babies without by chance, but should rather consider their health and economic standing.
Dr Oludara further stated that there is always a family planning method that is compatible with their body. Multiple methods are available at both public and private hospitals, where there are trained family planning experts.
Dr Oludara therefore urged women to know about family planning and child spacing.
