Drake and Rihanna’s romance may have fizzled last summer, but it looks like the rapper is still tending to the embers.
The Canadian chart-topper, 30, sparked a flurry of speculation about the couple’s former romance after posting an image of himself wearing a pair of her newly-released sock designs on Instagram.
Adding fuel to the flames of love was the fact that Drake’s chosen design featured a particularly saucy image of the 29-year-old singer that was taken from the provocative 2016 music video for the duo’s hit song Work.
Rihanna, 29, collaborated with sock brand Stance this month to recreate her most iconic fashion moments – from her 55-pound canary yellow MET Gala gown in 2015 to the denim thong she wore in her twerk-tactic ‘Pour It Up’ video.
Despite not tagging Rihanna in the image, which sees Drake reclining on a white couch while enjoying an ice-cold beverage, the rapper can be seen very pointedly angling his sock-clad feet in the direction of the camera, making his choice of statement footwear incredibly clear to his followers.
The image of Rihanna on the socks shows her in a yellow, green and red fishnet dress with a crochet bikini underneath, while she models bright-emerald lips.
The Work music video, released last February, hit headlines around the world thanks to the couple’s undeniable chemistry, as well as their steamy dance moves, and the Barbadian singer’s risqué sheer outfits.
Drake proudly posted the photo on Monday, captioning it ‘Trabajo’ which translates to the couple’s song Work. And regardless of whether or not he did it to support his friend or to rekindle affection for his ex-girlfriend, fans are going wild for the drama in the comments.
‘HE WANTS RIHANNA,’ one commenter hilariously posted on his posed photograph.
Another passionate commenter left a lengthy message wishing for the couple to get back together, writing: ‘So wish you and Rihanna were still together. I really liked the two of you together. You seemed like you would be a great couple.’
But some fans sided more with the brunette beauty rather than Drake.
‘Aww that’s so cute that he still supports ‘Mama Rih’…But Rihanna been hurt a lot and she definitely deserves better.’
One critical fan was not having it at all with Drake’s friendly post.
‘Drake there so many girls that love you stop thinking about the one that take you for granted,’ one candid Instagram user wrote.
Most people, however, were more than happy to share their desire for the couple to reignite their relationship.
‘He’s wearing Rihanna’s socks, I am done can they get back,’ one avid fan said.
The Toronto rapper is never shy when it comes to professing his love. Last August, the Controlla singer proved he was head over heels in love when he presented Rihanna the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Artist award at the VMA’s with a loving speech.
‘She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old. She’s one of my best friends in the world,’ he said when he handed her the award on national television and went in for a kiss, that she notably avoided.
Following was a billboard gift from the Toronto singer and social media posts.
Although the couple parted last fall and Drake has since been linked to a flurry of flings including Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj.
Be it love or friendship, Rihanna’s socks are a unique fashion find.
