According to InfoStride News, six local government chairmen in Ebonyi State who were members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resigned from the party and are planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is the party currently in power.
It has been rumored that the recent defeat of the PDP’s candidate for governor, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, in the electoral petition tribunal sitting in Abuja by the incumbent governor, Francis Nwifuru, may have something to do with the resignation of six of the PDP’s thirteen local government chairmen in the state.

This is according to information that has been acquired.
Agbom Friday (Ezza South), Nwofe Philip Don (lzzi), Nwobasi Ude Chizoba (Ohaozara), Chukwu Micheal O (lvo), Ifere Sunday Bright (lkwo), and Ndukwe Orji Oka (Afikpo South) are the six PDP local government chairmen who have resigned from the party.
The local government chairmen of the PDP have stated that they are leaving the party due to personal reasons in a letter that was made accessible to the media after they announced their resignation from their positions.
However, in a prompt response, Augustine Nwazunku, Ebonyi State Chairman of the PDP, urged on the general public to ignore the incident. He made this request while pointing out that some of the six LG chairmen are not active members of the party in the state.
He remarked, “Those individuals are acting haphazardly and getting themselves into activities that are anti-party, because there is a normal process for resigning in the party, and they are getting themselves involved in those activities.” And not one of them is a member of the executive committee of the caretaker committee for the state of Ebonyi, so none of them can unilaterally stand up and start granting irrelevant public talk that they have done this or that.
The majority of them are no longer affiliated with our party. Nobody from that group is a part of our executive team. They are engaging in an unofficial ruse in order to deceive members of the general public with what they are doing. As an illustration, the chairman of Ezza South was removed from his position by his ward and the local administration some time ago.
“Either they are engaging in antics or they are dancing to the music that is being played to them by someone else who is located elsewhere. Because, as far as we are concerned, they are behaving in their own autonomous form, members of the public need not to be misled on the basis of that.”
