Hon. Victor Chidi Nwoke, the member representing Abakaliki North Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection, which occurred during the inauguration of the local Government Committee of BERWO, the Pet Project of the wife of the Governor, was motivated by the lingering and irreconcilable crises rocking the PDP both at the state and national levels.
Nwoke cited the leadership crisis within the PDP, particularly the conflicts between former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, as a major reason for his defection.

He mentioned that these conflicts have led to the loss of members and a polarization of the party into contending groups.
The lawmaker praised the leadership prowess of the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, highlighting his achievements and leadership centered on the People’s Charter of Needs.
He expressed confidence in the governor’s leadership, describing him as a “paradigm of perfection.”
Nwoke defected to the APC along with Mr. Innocent Oriji, the Labour Party Chairman, Abakaliki LGA, and other supporters, including Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu, the former leader of Abakaliki legislative council.
Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of APC, welcomed Nwoke and his supporters into the party, assuring them of a level playing ground and promising to carry them along in the party’s affairs.
Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, the wife of the governor, also welcomed Nwoke and his supporters on behalf of the governor, assuring them of total inclusiveness.
