Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has declared his unwavering determination to contest and win the upcoming September 21 governorship election, stating that no individual or group can intimidate him out of the race.
Shaibu made this assertion while returning his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form for the gubernatorial election at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.
Expressing confidence in his ability to secure victory at the polls, Shaibu claimed to possess all the necessary qualities to emerge victorious.

He also voiced concerns about the influence of monetary inducements on some party elders, suggesting that they had been swayed by the highest bidders.
However, Shaibu remained optimistic, citing the unwavering support of youths and certain elders who are firmly behind his candidacy.
He emphasized the organic nature of his support base, stating that it is not artificially manufactured but stems from genuine grassroots backing.
Addressing the issue of godfatherism in Edo State politics, Shaibu asserted that the people are familiar with him and his commitment to their cause.
He expressed satisfaction with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s stance against godfatherism, affirming their resolve to resist any attempts to impose a new godfather figure on the state’s politics.
Shaibu concluded by reaffirming his dedication to the mandate of the people, confidently predicting that with his candidacy, the PDP will retain its position of influence in Edo State.
