On Tuesday, INEC said that over 5.4 million Nigerians have registered to vote in the upcoming governorship elections in the states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi on November 11.
INEC National Commissioner and Information and Voter Education Committee Chairman Sam Olumekun made the announcement.
From the press release: “The Commission held its regular meeting today, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, and, among other issues, reviewed preparations for the off-cycle Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States.”

For the next elections, there are a total of 5,409,438 registered voters across three states: 1,056,862 in Bayelsa State, 2,419,922 in Imo State, and 1,932,654 in Kogi State.
Soft copies of the complete register of voters for each state will be handed to the political parties participating in the elections, as specified in the timetable and schedule of operations. Bayelsa State has 16, Imo State has 17, and Kogi State has all 18 political parties sponsoring candidates.
On Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10 a.m., the “event” will take place at the Collation Centres in the State Headquarters of the Commission in Lokoja, Owerri, and Yenagoa. “State Chairmen of political parties or their designated representatives are invited to attend,” the statement reads.
On Saturday, October 14, 2023, between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the three states will conduct the exercise concurrently.
According to the Commission, “Once again, the Commission appeals to registered voters in the selected polling units to turn up with their Permanent Voters Cards PVCs for the exercise.”
