England striker, Ivan Toney has come out to highlight the important part he played in Jude Bellingham’s last-ditch equalizer against Slovakia at Euro 2024. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, taking nothing away from Bellingham‘s sublime goal, he surely deserves some credit for pulling the defender away with his run when the ball came into the box.
Toney added that he was very pissed to be brought on with little minutes to go vs Slovakia, but he came out of that mood as the match went on.
His words, “I feel we do a lot at club football. If you can’t get the ball you [do something else]. I pulled the defender away. Take nothing away from Jude… a run is not a wasted run even if you don’t get the ball.”
On his limited minutes at the Euros, “Yes, I was annoyed but there was still 30 minutes of football to play [including extra-time] and you have got to come out of that mood and focus. I feel like people call them substitutes, others finishers. I think you have to be ready and there’s more than 11 players needed to win a tournament.”

Jude Victor William Bellingham (born 29 June 2003) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for La Liga club Real Madrid and the England national team.

Jude Victor William Bellingham was born on 29 June 2003 in Stourbridge, in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, West Midlands, the eldest son of Denise and Mark Bellingham. His father Mark was, until 2022, a sergeant in the West Midlands Police, and a prolific goalscorer in non-League football.
Bellingham’s younger brother, Jobe, is also a footballer. Bellingham attended Priory School in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
