The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has declared its full readiness for the party’s National Convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, despite two Federal High Court rulings restraining the exercise.
InfoStride News reports that a Federal High Court in Abuja halted the convention over the party’s alleged failure to meet statutory requirements, including publishing its timetable for members and issuing a 21-day notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The suit filed by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido—who alleged he was denied the opportunity to purchase a nomination form for the national chairmanship contest—also contributed to the court’s decision.

But speaking in Enugu after a series of meetings with party structures in the state, acting State Chairman, Steve Oruruo, said the chapter remains fully prepared and has concluded all necessary arrangements for participation.
Oruruo revealed that all logistical and organisational preparations had been finalised, including arrangements for transporting delegates to the convention venue.
“I just returned from Abuja, where I secured all the necessary materials for the convention. We have held meetings with our delegates, distributed uniforms, and finalised travel logistics. Our delegates from the South East, particularly Enugu, will be airlifted from Akanu Ibiam International Airport,” he said.
He added that the Enugu PDP remains united and strong despite recent defections, noting that the state will be sending about 81 delegates to the convention, with the possibility of sponsoring additional participants depending on available resources.
