Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, a member of the House of Representatives and daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Her defection was announced on Thursday in a letter read on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Ibori-Suenu’s father, James Ibori, who served as Delta State Governor from 1999 to 2007, is regarded as a key figure in the PDP’s political structure in the state.

Her move to the APC marks the latest defection in an ongoing wave of lawmakers switching allegiance from opposition parties to the ruling party.
Earlier, four members of the Labour Party’s House caucus also defected to the APC, further depleting the minority bloc in the House of Representatives.
Observers view the defections as part of a growing trend that could significantly impact the dynamics of opposition politics in the National Assembly.
