Esperance Sportive de Tunis have wrapped up the 2013/2014 Tunisian ‘Ligue 1’ title with two games remaining.
The ‘Blood and Gold’ made certain of the title after a lone goal victory over US Monastir in a Week 28 fixture on Sunday (4 May 2014) in Rades. Midfielder Hocine Ragued scored the only goal as Esperance opened an 11-point lead over rivals CS Sfaxien, who were held 1-1 away at Stade Tunisien.
Esperance will play in next year’s Orange CAF Champions League for the seventh successive season since 2009.
The Tunis-based club is currently involved at the mini-league stage of the premier continental club championship where they are housed in Group B with fellows CS Sfaxien, Entente Setif of Algeria and Libya’s Ahly Benghazi.
