Former Chairman of Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 Presidential Campaign Council in Abia State, Charles Ogbonnaya, has called on southerners to rally behind President Bola Tinubu to enable the South to complete its turn in power before it shifts back to the North in 2031.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ogbonnaya, who previously served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Abia State, urged the South-East and South-South to work in alliance with the South-West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He argued that fairness and equity demand that the South be allowed to serve a full eight years in office, just as the North did under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, however, expressed concern that the South has often struggled to maintain unity during elections, unlike their northern counterparts.
“I had once raised the alarm that some of us in the South are allowing ourselves to be manipulated to work against our own interest. It is time we see through this and form a common front,” Ogbonnaya stated.
According to him, the South must put aside internal divisions and prioritise regional interest to consolidate its hold on power until 2031.
