Former Minister of Aviation, Ambassador Fidelia Njeze, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State.
Former Minister of Aviation, Ambassador Fidelia Njeze, and Senator Chukwuka Utazi, who represented Enugu North Senatorial zone, are among the high-profile defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State.
The defection was formalized at the party’s secretariat in Enugu on Saturday.

Other prominent PDP members who joined the APC include Davidson Nnamani, Princess Juliet Oloto, Chika Idoko, Jonathan Eze, Mr. Umunna Ugwu, and Ezi-Obodo Amechi Idodo of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
The defectors were received by Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology and leader of the APC in Enugu State, Chief Emma Eneukwu, APC National Deputy Chairman, South, Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, APC National Vice Chairman South-East, and Barr Ugochukwu Agballah, Chairman of the APC in Enugu State.
Speaking on his defection, Senator Utazi emphasized that joining the APC was crucial for the realization of Igbo Presidency, stating, “The only way to get Igbo presidency is to serve as a servant at the APC.”
Mrs. Njeze, a former Minister of Defence, expressed her commitment to bringing peace and progress to the party, emphasizing loyalty to the APC.
In his address, Chief Emma Eneukwu urged the new members to avoid anti-party activities, emphasizing the importance of unity and hard work for electoral success.
He declared, “Political party is meant to win elections. Work for the party.”
APC Vice Chairman, Southeast, Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, appealed to the new members to unite for the party’s success in the next election, emphasizing the significance of the party’s symbol, the broom, which signifies unity.
Chairman of the APC in Enugu State, Barr Ugochukwu Agballah, called on party members to return to their wards and build the membership base, highlighting the importance of grassroots support for the party.
The defection of these prominent politicians is expected to significantly impact the political landscape in Enugu State as parties strategize for the upcoming elections.
