Fatima Binta Bello, a former deputy minority whip in the House of Representatives, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the largest opposition party.
On Thursday, she submitted her resignation in writing to the party chairman in Shongom Ward, Shongom LGA, Gombe State.
She did not elaborate on why she was leaving the party or whether she planned to join another political faction.

“I am writing to tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the letter begins. My PDP membership card is included with this submission.
This was not a quick choice, and I deliberated long and hard over it, seeking advice from others along the way.
To the party, I offer my sincere appreciation for the over two decades of friendship and service. I wish you nothing but success in the future.”
Binta served as a representative for the Kaltungo/Shongom district in Gombe State for eight years in the green chamber.
