Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed the order reportedly granted by an Oyo State High Court directing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to proceed with its national convention, describing it as “inconsequential” and “dead on arrival.”
Fayose, in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, described the ruling as “an Ibadan judicial and political awada kerikeri of a hand-to-mouth judge,” insisting that no law-abiding institution could comply with such an order.

He argued that a State High Court lacks jurisdiction to act as an appellate court over a Federal High Court, saying “even the most unintelligent human being in Nigeria will know that a State High Court cannot overrule a Federal High Court.”
According to him, “the judge only granted an ineffective order that is dead on arrival — an order no one, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), can obey.”
Fayose called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to urgently sanction Justice A.L. Akintola, who issued the ex parte order, despite being aware of an earlier October 31, 2025 judgment by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court on the same matter.
Describing certain judges as “hand-to-mouth judges” and “bad eggs” that must be flushed out of the judiciary, Fayose accused some politicians of desperation and deliberate attempts to bury the PDP.
“This is another show of desperation by those who have become undertakers, waiting at the graveside to give the PDP a final burial,” he said.
“How do you go to a State High Court to get an ex parte order asking INEC to monitor a national convention on which a Federal High Court ruled five days ago that it should not monitor?”
The former governor reaffirmed his support for adherence to due process and the rule of law, warning that disobedience to court hierarchy could further damage the image of the judiciary and deepen the PDP’s internal crisis.
