Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated on Monday that the Federal Capital Territory Administration, also known as the FCTA, is open to have discussions on the topic of tourism development with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This was disclosed by Wike during a visit to his office in Abuja by Salem Al-Shamsi, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Nigeria.
The minister pointed out that the United Arab Emirates, and notably Dubai, has emerged as a global hub for tourism, and he emphasized that Nigeria is working toward the goal of turning its capital city, Abuja, into a tourism hub.

He stated that members of the FCT Administration will be part of President Bola Tinubu’s entourage for the next COP28 in Dubai, and he added that the team would begin conversation on Abuja’s tourist potential, which, according to him, will be of economic advantage for both countries. He said that President Bola Tinubu would be attending the conference.
We have faith in the connection between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates that President Tinubu is working to foster. It is essential for Abuja City to strengthen its position in this regard.
Because of the many things we have in common, we are interested in forming a business relationship with the United Arab Emirates. I am delighted to see that the connection has evolved to become stronger and more meaningful than it was in the past.
“I know that for President Tinubu, governance is business, and whatever is going to make Nigeria great is what he stands for.” “I know that for President Tinubu, governance is business.” According to Wike, “we are therefore here as his foot soldiers to complement his effort to ensure that his agenda for renewed hope is carried out.”
Wike pleaded with the UAE to speedily resolve the visa and Emirates flight concerns in order to make it possible for Nigerians to go to Dubai and other cities in the UAE for the purposes of tourism and business.
Earlier, Al-Shamsi shared his affection for the Nigerian people and his delight at the news that President Tinubu would be present at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) in Dubai.
He said that “this is going to be something great for us,” and I wholeheartedly agree.
The ambassador gave the minister his word that the problems with the visas and the Emirates aircraft will be rectified as quickly as possible.
According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will play host to the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
The conference will take place at Expo City Dubai from the 30th of November until the 12th of December in order to explore and reach an agreement on solutions that are bold, practical, and ambitious to the global climate crisis.
