The Federal Ministry of Health, has identified those who are likely to get the severe form of COVID-19. The Ministry stated that, elderly persons with underlying conditions of obesity, hypertension, cancer etc are prone to severe COVID-19.

While urging people to adhere to non- pharmaceutical measures to prevent coronavirus, the ministry, gave some health tips. According to the Ministry, patients’ with non-communicable disease are advised to continue to take their medication and diet as prescribed by their physician and ensure the long-term supply of their medicines.
They as well cover their nose with tissue or bent elbow whenever they are sneezing and coughing. They are also advised to engage in regular hand washing with soap or sanitizer and maintain distance from people who are coughing or sneezing.
The Ministry as well gave non-pharmaceutical safety Tips to health care providers. According to the Federal Ministry of Health, health care providers should avoid coming in contact with droplets and always make use of eye protection and facemask.
The ministry also urged health care providers to communicate with patients with non-communicable disease through telephone and also charge them to stay away from the hospital unless on emergency.
Healthcare providers were also charged to separate patients with respiratory condition from the waiting room to an isolation area within the hospital, while multi-month medicine prescription should be adopted for patients with non-communicable disease.
