The Federal Ministry of Health has given update on the just concluded national presentation, ministerial launch & dissemination of the National Health Promotion Policy. Present at the event were heads of different ministries at the federal level.
In his remarks the Honourable Minister for Health, Dr E.O Ehanire described the event which was done to launch and disseminate the 2019 revised National Health Promotion Policy 2019 and its strategic policy documents as a timely and desirable one.
The Honourable Minister stated that the ministry of health is not only concerned about treating illness but attaining & sustaining health of citizen so that more people enjoy good health.
According to Dr Ehanire, the Policy documents will serve as a guideline to empower individuals, families, groups and communities with necessary information on helpful habits & behaviours to maintain good health.
The Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry for Women Affairs Pauline K.Tallen has therefore urged women to promote health promotion inorder to achieve Universal Health Coverage. She however urged religious leaders to ensure that men respect women.
World Health Organization’ representative in Nigeria has therefore expressed his excitement to witness the launch of the National Health Promotion Policy strategy document.
The Honourable Minister Environment, Dr Mahmood, stated that a National Environmental Health Surveillance centre has been established under the Fedral Ministry of Environmrnt for continuous & systemic analysis & interpretation of environmental & health related data.
