Former Nigeria international striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni was in fine form on Friday as he spoke to the media for the first time since his move to English Championship side Reading.
.
The striker is confident of extending his scoring record in England even farther following his move to the Royals.
.
“I hope they feed me, then I can score,” the Yak told assembled media at Reading’s pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s confrontation with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
.
The 32-year-old added that, as a striker, his primary responsibility remains scoring goals which he says he hopes to do at Reading.
.
“As a striker your job is to score. When you don’t score you don’t do your job.
.
“I always believe, wherever I play I can score goals. You have to believe in yourself and when you have good teammates it’s great, the teammates here they believe in me and I believe in them too,” he added.
.
The former Everton striker then admitted that the last few days have been somewhat of a whirlwind after his shock move to Madejski Stadium on transfer deadline day, but he has acclimatised quickly – despite a baptism of snow in his first two training sessions.
.
“My first training session was freezing! After two and a half years with no snow it was so cold. But that’s England for you! I’m just happy to be back.
.
“I was impressed with training, the intensity was very good. I’ve been training hard and have been in pre-season for two weeks – I’m fit, the Championship is physical but I’m ready to go,” he said.
