The Belgian Football Association have announced that Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will only be sidelined “for a couple of weeks” after he limped out of Saturday’s World Cup qualifying win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Fellaini played just 30 minutes of the 4-3 victory before going off with a knee injury.
With Belgium leading 1-0, Fellaini felt something and, after receiving attention from Belgium’s medical team, was replaced by Leander Dendoncker.
Martinez suggested the injury was serious after the game, saying: “We are all worried about Fellaini. We fear that there’s ligament damage.”
However, on Sunday the Belgian FA announced via their official Twitter account that the injury was not as bad as first expected.
Nevertheless, Mourinho will be happy at the results of the scan after Belgium coach Roberto Martinez admitted following the game he feared the injury was longterm.
