Mr Tomide Akinribido, a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akinribido, who previously served as the deputy minority leader in the 9th House of Assembly, made his defection known on Monday.
Expressing his happiness at joining the ruling party, Akinribido pledged his commitment to working with the APC’s structure, leadership, stakeholders, and members.

He cited his conviction in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s capacity and political will to improve the state’s fortunes as a motivating factor for his decision.
In response, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin, welcomed Akinribido, describing his defection as a “dream come true.” Adetimehin praised Akinribido’s intellect and capacity, stating that the APC would benefit greatly from his membership.
He also hinted at more defections from the PDP to the APC, noting that many chieftains from the opposition party had expressed their readiness to join the ruling party.
Adetimehin emphasized the APC’s readiness to accommodate as many party faithful as possible, indicating a positive outlook for the party’s growth and influence in Ondo State.
