“Game of Thrones” is arguably the biggest show of the last decade, and so are its cast.
According to a data published by Variety, the shows main characters currently receive a big chunk of $500,000 per episode. That is over 180 million naira per episode.
This report means each of them was paid roughly $3.5 million for the ongoing seven-episode season.
These main cast are Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister).
Supporting cast Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and others probably earn less than the listed main cast.
The huge pay places them alongside other highest paid stars on cable TV. They are only after Robert De Niro’s $775,000 per episode pay for a still-untitled Amazon project and Mark Harmon’s $525,000 pay for “NCIS.”
Star of Netflix’s “House of Cards,” Kevin Spacey, earns the same as the “Game of Throne” stars – $500,000 per episode.
However, a recent report by London Express said that each of the main “GOT” cast will earn roughly $2.5 million per episode in next year’s eighth and final season.
Currently in season seven, the final episode is set to debut on Sunday, August 27, 2017.
The final season of the HBO show is expected to premiere in 2018 with just six episodes.
