Barcelona’s Gerard Pique was recently left out of the starting line-up for the second successive game amid speculation Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have submitted offers for the defender, according to the Daily Mail.
.
The 27-year-old has however vowed to fight for his place at the Nou Camp.
.
He progressed through the youth ranks at Barca initially before moving to Manchester United in 2004. After making 12 appearances for the Red Devils he switched back to the Nou Camp under Pep Guardiola in 2008.
.
So could a move back to Old Trafford be on the cards for the Spain international?
.
When he left United 6 years ago he described them as ‘a great club’ and said he had enjoyed his time there. He is exactly what United need right now too. A proven, world-class defender with bags of experience at the highest level.
.
The two big London clubs are in the hunt as well though. Chelsea offer the biggest guarantee of success, riding high as they are at the moment under Jose Mourinho. He would be a perfect fit at Arsenal too, who are just as in need of an experienced central defender as anyone.
.
United however look to be the likely destination, if a move is indeed on the cards.
.
They are now firing on all their financial cylinders and could offer a lucrative package to rival anything that Chelsea or Arsenal could put together.
.
A return to Manchester United for Pique could herald the start of a new era for both parties.
