Ghanaian government in alliance with ministry of communication has designed a plan to build a data centre in Ghana. The data centre was conceived as an idea to be the largest of its type in West African sub region.
The working capacity of the data centre is to be a 500 rack space national centre. However, the data centre is going to serve both the private and public sectors in the country. While the secondary data is located in Kumasi, the data centre is to be build adjacent Kofi Anaan ICT centre of Excellence and is also in close proximity to Council of State Building.
The minister of communication, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, there will be two pentabytes which will make space available for usage for both local and multinational companies. In addition, start ups will be able to create local contents.
With this new development, job opportunities will be available and internet facility enhanced.
