Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has officially reopened the Government Secondary School, now rebranded as Government Mega College, Dukku, marking the end of an 11-year closure due to insurgency.
The reopening of the institution aligns with Governor Inuwa’s pledge to establish five mega schools in Gombe State, aimed at alleviating the strain on existing educational facilities.
The newly reopened Government Mega College, Dukku, joins the ranks of four other mega schools across the state, namely, Government Science Mega College Gombe, Government Science Mega College Kaltungo, Government Girls Mega College Doma, and Government Mega College Dadinkowa.

Each of these institutions is designed to accommodate up to 3,000 students and is equipped with modern teaching aids to facilitate a conducive learning environment.
Previously neglected and in a state of disrepair, the transformation of these schools into mega colleges underscores the state government’s determination to overhaul the education sector.
As part of this initiative, students from GSS Malam Sidi have been relocated to Government Mega College, Dukku, paving the way for the comprehensive renovation of their former school.
