Justice Adepele Ojo, the Chief Justice of Osun State, was recently fired by the state’s government.
Justice Olayinka David Afolabi was elevated to the position of acting chief judge in her stead.
On Thursday, spokesman Olawale Rasheed for Governor Ademola Adeleke made the announcement.

The announcement said that Justice Afolabi’s appointment as Acting CJ was effective immediately after a motion was passed by the Osun State House of Assembly.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed Justice Olayinka David Afolabi as the Acting Chief Judge of Osun State with immediate effect following the approval of the resolution of the House of Assembly.”
The state government’s decision to remove Justice Ojo from her position as CJ follows rumors that she was going to be removed from office.
On Wednesday, a few nonprofits tried to get the state government to take notice of the rumors.
The state administration, however, responded by dispelling the rumors through Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment.
No official in the state government, according to the state government, is above the law.
