On Saturday, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State reaffirmed his support for George Akume as SGF, despite rumours to the contrary.
According to Alia, Akume is the leader of his people.
According to NAN, he said that he has no issues with the SGF and that other people are making up the problems.

The governor made his remarks to reporters at Makurdi’s Government House.
According to rumours, Alia and Akume butted heads over who should serve as SGF and Chief of Staff.
Alia responded by saying that Akume was the North Central APC regional leader and that he followed him.
“The SGF is not a source of crisis for me. He heads the APC in the state and the region where I live. There is no actual crisis, but people are making one up.
“As a State, we made plans to welcome him home, but the entire North Central Zone, including the FCT, said they want to be part of it, so plans are on the way,” he said.
